Today’s New Moon occurs in Libra, the sign of harmony and balance, of calm and level thinking. The light of day and the light of night, marking a time for new beginnings, join exactly at 3:12 pm Eastern time (US).
It all sounds very peaceful, doesn’t it? But the Sun and Moon today are exactly opposite Uranus (rebellion and the unexpected) and more loosely opposite minor planet Eris (trouble and discord) in Aries. Fire is in the air to upset all that lovely harmonious stability!
The Sun represents your outer Self — how you see yourself, how others see you. It carries a more masculine, active, paternal energy. The Moon is your emotional self, the maternal inner you who is more nurturing and caring. Together, their energy creates a wholeness of Self that is perfect for new beginnings.
Today, though… with Uranus opposing the Sun and Moon, it’s a day to be aware of your inner rebel. Uranus in Aries is like a moody teenager who has just been grounded for breaking family rules. “Nobody tells ME what to do!” Uranus in Aries climbs out of the bedroom window at midnight and heads downtown to the goth club that doesn’t check IDs.
Uranus in Aries ends up sheepishly calling Mom and Dad from the county lockup at 4 am.
What does this mean in practical terms?
If you can, postpone big, life-changing decisions until another day that isn’t quite so chaotic. It’s a good day to make plans, to think and write and mindmap ideas. It’s a fantastic day for thinking outside the box, but not a good time to take action on unconventional ideas or plans. Use this month to plan and get ready to execute, and launch next month at New Moon in Scorpio (November 18).
