Getting Stuff Done — How to Find Your Best Time

December 14, 2016 By AstroKate

old-diary

There is only one of me.

I run two businesses (this and my WordPress consulting business). I take care of house, cooking, finances, husband who has physical challenges… and when that’s all done, I do my best to take care of me.

For more than a year before I opened AstroKate, I struggled with finding time to work on it. My paying tech clients had to come first. Then my husband and house and family. If there was any time left over, I tried to take care of my own needs, which in the aftermath of my accident last December, were pretty heavy for a while.

The work I wanted to start languished at the bottom of my to-do list. And since I felt I could not give it priority, it never advanced.

I’m not the only one who struggles with this problem.

Over and over again, I hear this question from clients: “When will I ever find time for my own work??”

Whether that work is writing an ebook for their business, writing a novel just for fun, painting or sculpting to build a body of work for a gallery show, or just taking off for a day of walking in the woods for their own creative recharging, the question is the same: “When will I ever find time?”

And all the productivity coaches, all the specialists, all the business gurus, have exactly the same answer: “You don’t find time. You have to make time.”

Right. But when??

moon

The Moon — emotional, creative, intuitive, adaptable — can show the way if we allow it to do so.

The Moon shows that part of you that is most deeply yourself — your inner creativity. What you want to do in the world. The Moon circles the chart once per month, spending about 2½ days in each sign and house in your chart.

Let’s look at the most important placements for the Moon during the month, depending on what you want to accomplish.

Note that it’s better to know the houses where the Moon travels through your chart, rather than the signs; but if you haven’t had your birth chart calculated, you can use sign placement. The location of the Moon by sign is the same for everyone, and that information is easy to find using a moon phase calendar.

  • First House (or sign of Aries): Your Self and your outward appearance in the world. Use this Moon transit if you are working on self-discovery or expressions of your individuality. Who are you? Use this time also for improving something to do with your public persona, such as public speaking.
  • Third House (or sign of Gemini): Communications, writing, playfulness. Use this time to write a book! Bonus points if you are writing something lighthearted and fun. A book for children? Cartoons? Or even create a funny video or meme to share.
  • Fifth House (or sign of Leo): Creative expression, especially attention-gathering. This Moon placement is ideal for actors and dancers — all the world is your stage! For painters and sculptors this is also a strong time to express your emotions through your art. Plan on using these days to build that portfolio for your gallery owners.
  • Tenth House (or sign of Capricorn): All business, all the time. This is the time of the month to do your financial planning and bookkeeping. Work on your ebook or your new business offering. Plan your business goals for the next month and get all the fiddly administrative work caught up.

Each sign and house, of course, has its own focus. These are the most important ones I look at with regard to getting your own work done, though your focus may be on something else entirely.

What do you want to accomplish this month? Do you know the best time according to your Moon to devote to it?

If you would like a more targeted look at your own chart, with prime days for your own work over the coming year, let me know!
