There is lots going on in the sky on Thursday, January 12. My advice earlier in the week was “this is a good day to stay home in bed if you can!”
There will be a short-lived Grand Cross in cardinal signs, a four-way tug-of-war in the “get-it-done” houses. It’s going to be difficult to accomplish anything with four strong planets pulling in different directions. It’s a day for being frazzled and distracted and constantly dealing with one problem after another.
The good news is that the exact cross lasts only a few hours. By the end of the day (18:00 UTC or 7 pm Eastern time) the Moon, while still appearing full, will have moved out of direct opposition to the Sun and out of square to Jupiter and Uranus.
The better news is that — even though this is not an easy configuration — there are always ways to work with the energies and keep them from pulling you apart.
The Players
Full Moon in Cancer: Opposition Sun, square Jupiter, square Uranus
The Moon rules Cancer, so she is right at home in her own sign — lighting up the night, lighting up your monthly journey. The Moon is about emotion, about tenderness and caring. Cancer focuses on home and family, on our origins and our roots. Today the Moon in Cancer opposes the Sun (self and public persona) in Capricorn (business, career, public achievements).
If I still had children at home, I’d suspect this would be the day that one of them woke up with the flu and couldn’t go to school. Should I stay home and care for my family (Cancer) or find someone to stay with the sick child and take care of my work (Capricorn)? Am I mother (Moon) or family breadwinner (Sun)?
Jupiter (abundance and success) in Libra (harmony, negotiation, other people) is pulling toward going to work. Uranus (independence and rebellion) in Aries (drive, assertion, strength)says “f— the job, my kid is sick.”
Pushme-pullyu. How would you decide?
Finding the Compromise
If I were in this situation, I would look at the four planets and their placements in the sky to look for a way to move forward.
Could you arrange to work from home? Negotiate (Libra) a day to work (Jupiter) from home (Cancer), to care for your family (Moon) while still taking care of business (Capricorn) for yourself (Sun)?
Uranus the quirky one, the rebel, might suggest something unconventional to add to the mix, too. In this situation, I might use this work-from-home day to dazzle the boss. Use the cardinal energies of the four planets to forge ahead on your project while you are away from the office … and then turn around and say, “I got so much done during my remote work day. How about we try out a month where I work from home one day a week?”
A four-way tug-of-war, even though it is not an easy configuration, doesn’t have to spell dooooooooooom.
Knowledge is power.
Make the most of it.
